Sewing an adjustable bra strap
You have started to sew your bra, and you can't wait to wear it…Then arrives the moment when you have to do the finishing :
Sewing the Hook & eye, cut all the thread excess, sewing the bow or button, among other things… And, of course the strap sewing !
You will quickly realize that this step is often the one we want to neglect. Nevertheless, nice finishing is the reason why you will even more love wearing your underwear 🙂
In this article, we explain how to make an adjustable bra strap. Very useful to ensure a good support, to adjust the length of the straps according to your morphology, and prevent from the loosening of the rubber band of the strap after a certain time ...
You will see, if not the most fun part of bra-making, it's a very simple work to do 😉.
We will explain step by step how to proceed.
Are you ready ? Let's go !
To make your adjustable strap, you will need 3 little things :
|- Bra strap elastic
We recommend using a 10 to 12 mm (3/8 to 1/2 in) wide strap for sizes XS, S and M, and a 15 mm wide strap for sizes L and XL.
⭐ Quick tip ⭐
Bra strap elastics are stronger than other lingerie elastics that we use for bands and panty waist, which will give you optimal support.
2. Step by step
|Cut your elastic band on a length of about 45 cm for a full-length strap.
Then, pass it through the slider as in the picture. The right side of your strap should be visible, as on the picture.
|Bend the edge of your strap to wrap the slider middle bar, and make a very tight zig-zag stitch (2mm wide).
Then cut the excess length of the strap.
|Pass the strap elastic through the ring.|
|Then, pass it again through the slider.|
|Here is the result you obtain 🙂
Repeat the previous steps to make a second strap.
|All you have to do now, is to pass another piece of elastic - or even some ribbon - in the ring to finish your strap and come and put it on your bra.
Et voilà ! 👌
You can also customize your strap, by adding ribbons on the front part of the strap; but, think well to keep an extensible part in the back not to lose in comfort.
